Participation of civil society

Civil society includes organizations out of the formal political machinery, for example, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), non-profit organizations, professional associations, students groups, cultural associations, sport clubs, etc. The participation of civil society strengthens the different steps of the International Anti-Corruption Conventions´ (IACC) process:

• The implementation of strategic guidelines established by the Conventions
• The elaboration of follow-up mechanisms
• The assessment of the implementation of the States Parties´ commitments

Through Transparency International, recommendations were given to international organizations about the creation of IACC follow-up mechanisms.

• Participation in the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention
• Participation in the UNCAC
